A Little Help Just At The Right Time

You may love them, maybe they annoy you, hey you may not even know who they are, but today I’m sending out a little thank you to the lovely ladies at The Circle. The morning TV show that started a couple of years ago, is finishing today, out of the blue, and I know many people will miss the familiar feel of this comfortable talk show.

I have to say that I don’t watch it as much as I used to, although it’s usually on in the background while I’m working. But, there are so many regular viewers who will now have a big space in their day.

Two years ago, not long after I started to work on Zen Designs seriously, I sent some jewellery to the girls at The Circle. Honestly, I didn’t expect to hear anything back, but thought I’d give it a go, what did I have to lose?

Just 3 days after sending the package off, my phone rang and when I answered, the voice on the other end of the line said “Hello Lisa, this is Denise Drysdale from The Circle.” What??!! Luckily a girlfriend was over for coffee at the time, so she could assure me that I wasn’t imagining it. Denise went on to thank me very much for taking the time to send the pieces to them, then as she was saying goodbye, Gorgi, Chrissie and Yumi all called out a loud “thank you”.

I was just so amazed that they had even bothered to contact me to acknowledge my gift, surely these girls get free stuff all the time? Within about 10 minutes, I received an email from Gorgi Coghlan, another of the hosts, to say thanks and also chat a little about how much fun they have making the show, finishing with:

“I hope your business continues to grow and you enjoy every second being at home with your gorgeous Bella.”

To say I was excited would be an understatement, and I couldn’t wait to share the news on Facebook….as you do! As I posted photos of some of the pieces I sent, people started asking if they could buy the necklace that I had sent to Chrissie. Within days, the sales of this particular piece went through the roof, and 2 years later I still have people contacting me to order it because someone told them Chrissie had one!

So even though it was indirectly, I’ll always be grateful to the sisterhood of  The Circle. They gave me the boost I needed just at a crucial time. I hope they realize just how much they have meant to many people, and wish them the best for all their future challenges. Thanks girls!

  1. Lovely, what a wonderful story of goodness coming full ‘circle’. I didn’t like The Circle after the whole Yumi & George debacle over Ben Roberts-Smith (not just because my husband is a soldier too, it was so bizarre & inappropriate, nothing could fix what they said) & Chrissie Swan leaving, she’s my favourite, i wish she just had her own show!! My husband told me a while ago they were getting panned, let’s just say the military are happy. Love Posie

    • Hey Posie, that’s actually when it really lost it’s sparkle for me too, that was a really stupid conversation, and extremely disrespectful. Although really, I think losing Chrissie was the beginning of the end, and yes if she had her own show, I’d be a regular watcher too!
It just amazes me though, what a difference a bit of “celebrity” exposure can do for a brand. xx
